First, the table picks a penalty: 10 push-ups, a lemon wedge or anything you come up with. Then 15 cards are played, each a different game: votes, shouting at once, emoji puzzles, tongue twisters, hot potato, mini games and phone dares. Each card says who takes the penalty and how many times over. Whoever gets hit can open a luck card, if they have one, to try to escape, but it might backfire.

There is no winner: at the end, whoever has the biggest penalty total becomes Penalty King of the Night.

How to win

Chaos Table has no winner. After 15 cards, the player with the biggest penalty total becomes Penalty King of the Night; on a tie they all share the crown, and if nobody took a penalty, there is no King.

Chaos Table rules

Every rule of the game, from scoring to how a game is won.

Overview and setup

  • Chaos Table is a penalty game for 3–12 players on one phone. The phone goes around the table, and some dares are done on each player's own phone.
  • First enter the players' names, then choose the table's penalty. The game can't start without one.
  • You can pick an example penalty with a set amount, such as 10 push-ups, 15 squats or a 20-second plank, or write your own with its amount.
  • Choose a harmless, fun penalty that everyone at the table is comfortable with. Nobody should push themselves.
  • Nobody has to do a task they don't want to do. Skipping a task just means taking the card's penalty.
  • Phone dares only use your own phone and your own data.
  • Every player starts with 1 luck card and can hold up to 3 at a time.

Card flow

  • A game has 15 cards: 5 Warm-up cards first, then 6 Chaos cards, then 3 Finale cards, plus 1 joker card slotted in between. The order within each part is shuffled.
  • The joker card, Freeze!, can turn up anywhere except first or last. The Reveal is always the last card.
  • Cards where the phone is passed around never come back to back.
  • For each card, whoever holds the phone reads it out loud, the table plays it, and the phone holder marks who takes the penalty. Then the penalty screen opens.
  • On turn-based cards, the app picks a random starting player and whether the phone goes clockwise or counterclockwise. Everyone starts once before anyone starts twice.

Warm-up cards

  • Who Among Us? (×1): when the countdown ends, everyone points at someone at the same time; you can't point at yourself. Whoever gets pointed at most takes the penalty. On a tie, they all take it; if everyone is tied, nobody does.
  • This or That (×1): when the countdown ends, everyone picks: hand on your head for 1, hand on the table for 2. The minority takes the penalty; on a tie, nobody does.
  • Trait Hunter (×1): everyone who matches the trait on the card takes the penalty. Match the extra trait too and you take one more, for ×2 in total. If you're not sure, the table decides.
  • Been There, Done That (×1): everyone who has done what the card says at least once in their life takes the penalty.
  • Great Minds (×1): when the countdown ends, everyone shouts the first answer that comes to mind, all at once. Anyone whose answer matches nobody else's takes the penalty; answers that mean the same thing count as a match.

Chaos cards and mini games

  • Emoji Decoder (×1): put the phone in the middle, screen up. The first to correctly name what the emojis show before time runs out is safe and earns a luck card; everyone else takes the penalty. If time runs out, everyone takes it.
  • Tongue Twister (×1): on your turn, say the tongue twister once. Pausing, skipping a word or starting over counts as tripping up. The first to trip up takes the penalty and the card ends; if nobody trips up, nobody takes it.
  • Hot Potato (×3): on your turn, say an answer that fits the topic and pass the phone on. No repeating answers, and if you can't come up with one, you can't pass the phone. The phone goes off at a random moment, and the last person to touch it takes the penalty.
  • Phone Game A and Phone Game B (×2): a mini game played in turns on the phone. Phone Game A comes in the Chaos part, Phone Game B in the Finale. Whoever loses the mini game takes the penalty.
  • Each game has two mini games, one based on luck and one on skill. Luck games: Trap Boxes, Cut the Wire, Pump the Balloon, Secret Number and Higher or Lower? Skill games: Reflex, Right on Time, Perfect Circle, Color Trap and Balance Ball.
  • In the skill game, the player with the best result earns a luck card.
  • Sayko Wheel (×1–×3): the wheel picks someone at the table and the multiplier. The odds are 50% for ×1, 35% for ×2 and 15% for ×3.
  • Collective Chaos (×2): everyone does the task at the same time, within the time on the card. Anyone who fails or doesn't want to do it takes the penalty, and everyone who makes it earns a luck card.

Finale and joker cards

  • Auction: bid out loud on how many times or how many seconds you can do the task; each bid must beat the last one. The highest bidder does the task.
  • If the bidder pulls it off, they earn a luck card and everyone else takes the penalty ×1. If they fail, they take the penalty ×2 themselves. If nobody bids, whoever read the card takes on the task.
  • The Reveal (×3): everyone takes a turn doing the task. Do it and you're safe; if you can't or won't, you take the penalty.
  • Freeze! (×1): read the rule and tap Ready. When the countdown ends, everyone freezes, and whoever loses by the rule takes the penalty. In the blink rule, the first person named for blinking takes it. If time runs out before anyone loses, nobody takes it.

Penalties and luck cards

  • A penalty's size is the penalty amount times the card's multiplier: 10 push-ups on a ×2 card means 20 push-ups. For a penalty you wrote yourself, the multiplier is shown in front of it, for example 2 × your penalty.
  • Cards give the penalty ×1 to ×3. Luck cards can raise it, but never above ×4.
  • Penalties are done at the end of each card, on the penalty screen. The player taps Took it, or opens a luck card if they have one. An opened luck card is used up.
  • You can only open a luck card on a penalty the card gave you directly. You can't use one on a penalty passed to you, on penalties from Buddy System, Spread It Around or Magnet, or on stamp penalties.
  • There are four ways to earn a luck card: be first to solve Emoji Decoder, have the best result in the skill mini game, make it in Collective Chaos, or pull off the task in the Auction.
  • An opened luck card is good 50% of the time, bad 30% of the time and a stamp 20% of the time.
  • Good cards: Shield cancels the penalty. Plot Twist gives your penalty to anyone you choose. Spread It Around lets you off and gives everyone else the same penalty. Discount halves the penalty, rounding up (15 push-ups become 8). With Buddy System you take the penalty and a player you choose takes the same. Stamp Eraser erases any one stamp at the table and lets you skip your penalty.
  • Bad cards: Boomerang doubles your penalty. With Magnet you take your penalty, and if anyone takes a penalty on the next card, you also take the biggest one given on it. With Wiped Out you take your penalty and lose all your remaining luck cards.

Stamps

  • If you draw a Stamp, your penalty is canceled, but you get a rule to follow until the game ends, for example ending every sentence with banana.
  • If someone catches you breaking it, the phone holder taps Caught! and you get a ×1 penalty that no luck card can stop. A catch tapped by mistake can be undone. A player can get at most one stamp penalty per card.
  • Each player can wear only 1 stamp at a time; a new one replaces the old one. The table can have up to 3 stamps at once, and no two players wear the same stamp.
  • If the table already has 3 stamps, a Stamp turns into a Boomerang, unless it would only replace your own stamp.

End of the game and Penalty King of the Night

  • The game ends once the penalties of the last card, The Reveal, are done.
  • Chaos Table has no winner. The summary ranks players by their total penalty amount; what counts is the total, not how many times you were hit.
  • The player with the biggest penalty total becomes Penalty King of the Night. On a tie they all share the crown; if nobody took a penalty, there is no King.
  • Multipliers, timers and luck card odds may change in future updates.
