How to play

Drag the photo with your finger to look around. Signs, license plates, buildings and plants give away where you are.

Tap Open Map, tap where you think you are to drop your pin, then tap Submit. Until you submit, you can move your pin as much as you like.

The real spot appears on the map. You see a line from your pin to it, everyone's pins and how many kilometers away each guess landed.

Tap View Results to see the round ranking and the overall standings. Tap Continue when you're ready.

After 10 rounds, the points are added up. The highest total wins the game.
Each round drops you into a real 360° street photo somewhere in the world. Look around: signs, buildings, roads and nature are all clues. Where are you? Open the map and pin your guess.
The closer your pin is to the real spot, the more points you score, and landing within 50 meters is worth 10,000. When the game ends, the player with the most points wins.
How to win
After 10 rounds, the player with the highest total score wins. If totals are tied, the players share first place.

Lost Tourist rules
Every rule of the game, from scoring to how a game is won.
Overview
- In Lost Tourist, every location is a 360° photo taken on a real street somewhere in the world. Your goal is to find where it was taken, as precisely as you can, on a map.
- There are no roles or teams. Everyone plays on their own phone, and everyone sees the same photo each round.
- The host picks a pack. Each pack has 10 locations from different parts of the world, they come in a shuffled order, and the game lasts 10 rounds.
How a round works
- The photo opens on every phone at the same time. Drag with your finger to look in any direction.
- Tap Open Map to switch to a world map. Tap the map to drop your pin, and tap somewhere else to move it. Tap Go Back to return to the photo and look again.
- Submit becomes active only once you've dropped a pin. A submitted pin can't be changed, and the button shows how many players have submitted.
- The round timer is 60 seconds by default. In the last 5 seconds, your phone warns you with a sound and a vibration. Just before time runs out, the pin on your map is submitted automatically.
- The round ends early once everyone has submitted.
- The result map shows the real spot, a line from your pin to it and everyone's pins. Your distance in kilometers and your points are shown on this screen too. Tap the real spot's marker to see the photographer's name and the source.
- Tap View Results to open the round ranking and the overall standings. The next round starts when everyone has tapped Continue.
Scoring
- Distance is measured as the crow flies between your pin and the real spot.
- If your pin is within 50 meters of the real spot, you score 10,000 points.
- Farther away, your score is 10,000 × e^(−distance ÷ 2,000 km), rounded to the nearest whole number. At 2,000 km the score drops to 3,679, and it keeps sliding toward 0 the farther away you are.
- 1 km away → 9,995 points.
- 100 km away → 9,512 points.
- 500 km away → 7,788 points.
- 1,000 km away → 6,065 points.
- 2,000 km away → 3,679 points.
- 5,000 km away → 821 points.
- 10,000 km away → 67 points.
- On the other side of the world, about 20,000 km away → 0 points.
- A player who submits no pin scores 0 for that round. Your total is the sum of your round scores, with no bonuses or penalties. The maximum over 10 rounds is 100,000 points.
Winning and ties
- After 10 rounds, the player with the highest total score wins.
- If totals are tied, the players share first place. There is no tie-breaker.
- If every player ends on 0 points, nobody wins. Players who leave the game are ranked last and can't win.
Special cases
- If you have no pin on the map when time runs out, you score 0 for that round.
- If the photo fails to load, the timer keeps running. Tap Retry to load it again, or open the map and pin your guess anyway.
- If the host leaves, the game goes on: hosting passes at once to the next signed-in player. If the host loses connection, everyone is warned after 1 minute, and hosting passes on if they aren't back within 2 minutes.
- If another player leaves, the game goes on without them. If fewer than 2 players are left, the game ends.
- A player who disconnects stays in the game and carries on after reconnecting. The other players don't wait for them.
Host settings
- Round Time: 30, 60 or 120 seconds, or Unlimited. The default is 60 seconds.
- Pack: the host picks any pack they have access to.
- When the game ends, everyone votes to carry on by tapping New Game · Same Team. Once everyone has accepted, the host picks the next package and a new game starts in the same room.
- Timers and point values may change in future updates.
