How to play

If you're the host, choose the number of vampires and special roles for your group, or tap Recommended setup, then start the game. The lobby shows what each role does.

Look at your role card: your role, team, power and goal. If you're a vampire, you also see the other vampires. Keep it secret and tap Got It.

At night, everyone picks a player: vampires pick who to bite, special roles pick who to use their power on, everyone else picks a suspect. Since everyone picks, nobody can tell who is who.

In the morning, the app reveals who was eliminated overnight, along with their role if that setting is on. If nobody was eliminated, the app announces a quiet night.

After the discussion, vote for who should be banished or tap Pass. The player with the most votes is banished, and everyone sees who voted for whom.

The game ends when a side wins. The final screen shows the winners, everyone's role and the night suspicions, plus a log of every night and day.
Vampires have slipped into the village, and everyone gets a secret role. At night, the vampires choose who to bite, the Healer protects someone and the Seer checks whether a player is a vampire. In the morning, the app reveals who was eliminated; by day, the village argues and votes to banish a suspect. No narrator needed.
The village wins by banishing every vampire. The vampires win once they are at least as many as everyone else still in the game. A banished Jester wins alone.
How to win
The village wins when no vampires are left in the game. The vampires win once they are at least as many as all other players still in the game; a Jester banished by the day vote wins alone.

Village Vampires rules
Every rule of the game, from scoring to how a game is won.
Overview
- Village Vampires is a hidden-role game with no narrator. The app runs the night, so everyone gets to play. There are no points; one side wins the game.
- There are three sides: the Village, the Vampires and the Jester, who plays alone.
- The game moves from night to day: at night everyone makes a pick, in the morning the night's eliminations are revealed, and by day the village discusses and votes to banish someone. A new night starts until one side wins.
- There is one package, Classic Village. The roles are the content.
Roles
- Vampire (Vampires): every night, chooses a target together with the other vampires and bites them. Vampires know each other and can't target themselves or another vampire.
- Villager (Village): has no special power. Picks a suspect at night, but the pick has no effect. By day, listens closely and votes wisely.
- Healer (Village): protects one player every night, themselves included. That player can't be eliminated by a vampire bite that night. Protecting the same player on consecutive nights is allowed.
- Seer (Village): every night, looks at another player and instantly learns whether they are a vampire. The pick can't be changed after seeing the answer. The Jester looks innocent to the Seer.
- Hunter (Village): if bitten at night or banished by day, picks another player still in the game to leave with them, and that player is out too. The Healer's protection doesn't stop this. Picks a suspect at night.
- Mayor (Village): their day vote counts as 2. Their identity is secret, but it can be worked out from the open vote tally. Picks a suspect at night.
- Uninvited Guest (Village): every night, visits another player's house. Since the Guest isn't home, the vampires can't bite them that night. If the player visited is a vampire, that vampire is locked in and their pick doesn't count; other vampires can still bite. If the vampires target the house the Guest is visiting and the Healer doesn't protect that player, both are eliminated.
- Jester (alone): wants the village to banish them. If banished by the day vote, the Jester wins alone. Being bitten or taken out by the Hunter doesn't count. Picks a suspect at night.
Night
- At night, everyone still in the game picks a player. Players without a night power pick a suspect; it has no effect, but because everyone picks, nobody can tell who has a special role.
- On everyone's phone, all players pick at the same time and the night lasts 45 seconds. Vampires see each other's picks live. Everyone except the Seer can change their pick until the night ends. The night ends early once everyone has picked; a missing pick doesn't count.
- On one phone, the phone goes round the players still in the game and everyone must pick. Each night the round starts one seat later. Each vampire sees the picks of the vampires before them. There is no night timer.
- The night resolves in this order. 1: If the Uninvited Guest visited a vampire, that vampire's pick doesn't count.
- 2: The vampires' target is the player with the most counted picks. On a tie, the latest pick decides. With no counted picks, nobody is bitten that night.
- 3: If the target is the Uninvited Guest, nobody is eliminated, because the Guest isn't home. If the target is the player the Guest is visiting and the Healer didn't protect them, both the target and the Guest are eliminated. Otherwise, a protected target is safe and an unprotected target is bitten and eliminated.
- 4: If the Hunter was eliminated during the night, they pick who leaves with them before morning.
- 5: In the morning, the night's eliminations are revealed, or the app announces a quiet night. A Healer save and a Guest lock-in are never announced in the morning; they only appear in the log at the end of the game.
Day: discussion and vote
- After the morning news comes the discussion, 120 seconds by default. On everyone's phone, only the host can start the vote early; on one phone, anyone can tap Start Voting.
- Everyone still in the game votes for another player still in the game, or taps Pass.
- On everyone's phone, all players vote at the same time and the vote lasts 30 seconds. Votes can be changed until the vote ends, and it ends early once everyone has voted. A missing vote counts as a pass. On one phone, players vote one at a time in secret with no timer.
- The Mayor's vote counts as 2 and everyone else's as 1; a pass counts as 0. The player with the most votes, alone at the top, is banished. If nobody votes, nobody is banished.
- On a tie, nobody is banished by default. If the host chose Revote, the tied players face one more vote among themselves only; if that is tied too, nobody is banished.
- Votes are public: everyone sees who voted for whom, who passed, the totals and who was banished. If the setting is on, the banished player's role is shown too.
- If the banished player is the Jester, the Jester wins alone and the game ends at once. If the banished player is the Hunter, they pick who leaves with them before the vote result.
- After the vote result, a new night begins.
Winning and losing
- The game checks for a winner after every night, after every vote (including the Hunter's pick) and when a player leaves.
- If no vampires are left in the game, the Village wins.
- If the vampires still in the game are at least as many as all other players still in the game, the Vampires win. The Jester counts as a non-vampire here.
- If the Jester is banished by the day vote, the Jester wins alone. This is checked before anything else.
- Everyone on the winning team wins, including players who were eliminated earlier. Players who left the game don't count as winners.
Special cases
- A night can pass with nobody eliminated: the vampires targeted the Uninvited Guest, the Healer protected the target, the only vampire was locked in by the Guest, or no vampire made a pick.
- The Hunter can take the Jester with them. The Jester doesn't win then, because only being banished wins.
- On everyone's phone, the Hunter has 20 seconds to pick; if time runs out, nobody leaves with them. On one phone, the Hunter must pick.
- Eliminated players become spectators: they can't pick or vote and should stay silent for the rest of the game. On everyone's phone, eliminated players see every role.
- On everyone's phone, a player who leaves or is removed is eliminated at once, and their role is revealed if the setting is on.
- If players leave and fewer than 4 remain in the room (eliminated players count), the game ends with no winner.
- If the host leaves, the game goes on: hosting passes at once to the next signed-in player. If the host loses connection, everyone is warned after 1 minute, and hosting passes on if they aren't back within 2 minutes.
- A player who disconnects stays in the game. Every phase except an unlimited discussion has a timer, so the game moves on without them; a missing pick doesn't count and a missing vote counts as a pass.

Questions about Village Vampires
How many players can play?
4 to 16 players. Bigger groups can add more vampires and special roles.
Do we need a narrator?
No. The app runs the night and announces what happened in the morning, so everyone gets to play.
Do we play on one phone or on everyone's phone?
Either works. On one phone, you pass it around at night and for the vote, with no timer for these steps. On everyone's phone, all players pick at the same time at night and the vampires see each other's picks live.
How long does a game take?
One night and day takes about 4–5 minutes with the default settings. Most games end within 3–5 nights, so about 15–25 minutes. On one phone, nights take longer with big groups.
